Key Responsibilities of Behaviour Support Assistant (BSA)
* Individual Behaviour Support: Provide one-on-one or small group support to pupils with behavioural needs, helping them manage emotions and build social skills.
* Crisis Intervention: Respond calmly and effectively to behavioural incidents using age-appropriate de-escalation and restorative techniques.
* Collaborative Planning: Work closely with class teachers, SENCOs, and external professionals to implement tailored behaviour support strategies.
* Positive Relationships: Build nurturing, trusting relationships with pupils to foster confidence, engagement, and a sense of belonging.
* Monitoring Progress: Keep accurate records of behaviour and progress, contributing to regular reviews and support planning.
Requirements for a Behaviour Support Assistant (BSA)
* Experience: Previous experience supporting young children with behavioural needs, ideally in a primary school or early years setting.
* Communication: Strong interpersonal skills to work effectively with pupils, families, and school staff.
* Teamwork: A collaborative mindset and the ability to contribute positively to a team environment.
* Qualifications: Relevant training or qualifications in behaviour support, education, or special needs are desirable.
