Job summary
We are seeking an experienced full-time CAMHS Consultant Psychiatrist who will work at Cygnet Joyce Parker Hospital and provide senior medical cover care to 10 inpatients on Dragon Ward (CAMHS Low Secure service for young people aged 12-18 with complex mental health needs).
The post holder will be the Responsible Clinician and will oversee and maintain the care of all ward inpatients as required and will also have responsibility for auditing the medical services rendered at the ward and ensuring their good quality in accordance to GMC standards of good medical practice and other relevant professional guidelines.
In this role, your expertise will be the driving force for life-changing treatment fully supported by a Specialty Doctor and first-class multidisciplinary team including qualified nurses, psychologist and occupational therapist.
You'll also have the opportunity to progress to Medical Director Level through our management schemes.
Main duties of the job
Cygnet Joyce Parker Hospital is our state-of-the-art Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS) hospital in Coventry.
The service supports young people aged between 12 and 18 with mental health needs in low secure, psychiatric intensive care and acute environments.
The aim of the service is to help young people stabilise and return home as soon as possible. All young people will be able to continue their education through access to our on-site Ofsted-registered school, Summit School, if required.
The post holder will be the Responsible Clinician on Dragon Ward and have overall medical responsibility of patient treatment plans, whilst liaising closely with the Multi-Disciplinary Team (Psychologists, Occupational Therapists, Registered Mental Health Nurses, Social Workers etc.)
The post holder will be expected to act as a positive role model, maintaining and demonstrating a positive attitude towards patients, their families, visitors and other staff.

Dragon Ward isour10-bed CAMHS low secure service for young people with complex mental health needs, supporting young people who may need a longer stay in an inpatient setting within a low secure environment.
The service focuses on working with young people to understand their mental health, their risks and support their recovery, enabling them to be successfully discharged to a less restrictive environment and to reduce the possibility of relapse and likelihood of requiring a secure service in the future.

Your role responsibilities
1. Work as part of a multidisciplinary team (MDT)
2. Take overall responsibility for patient treatment plans in conjunction with the MDT
3. Assess referrals & undertake mental state examinations of service users
4. Undertake appropriate investigations, diagnosis & treatment
5. Participate in ward rounds & clinical audits
6. Lead the implementation of risk assessment, risk management & embed clinical governance
7. Supervise reports for Mental Health Act tribunals & managers hearings & attend hearings
8. Participate in the 1:4 Second Telephone on-call rota

We are looking for someone who is...
24. Fully GMC registered & MBBS (or equivalent) qualified
25. Registered on the specialist register for Child and Adolescent Psychiatry (CCT/CESR), Section 12 and AC Status
26. Experienced & knowledgeable in CAMHS psychiatry & mental health diagnosis
27. Knowledgeable of the Mental Health Act and Code of Practice, along with the Mental Capacity Act 2005 and Code of Capacity
28. A first-rate communicator who can interview, assess & treat patients & write clear, comprehensive medical notes
