General Summary
The Quality Control Welding Inspector will undertake process and product verification in line with company systems, regulatory requirements and management direction to ensure parts are fully compliant with contractual requirements and the company's quality management system. This role covers all product lines that are purchased, manufactured, assembled, and serviced within the Glasgow (Cathcart) facility, working in accordance with company policies and procedures to meet external regulations and deliver standards such as ISO 9001, ASME Certificates of Authorisation, EN 9712 (PCN) and SNT‑TC‑1A.
Principal Duties And Responsibilities
* Conduct all activities whilst maintaining the highest level of ethics and integrity.
* Verify products manufactured, purchased or assembled in accordance with applicable drawings, procedures, route cards or other detailed instructions.
* Maintain self‑capability as part of the Quality Control team, being flexible to meet business needs in accordance with company procedures and legislative requirements.
* Perform visual inspections of pre‑weld setups, in‑process welding activities, and completed welds to ensure compliance with applicable PQR’s/WPS.
* Monitor welding in compliance with ITP’s, WPS, and PQR’s.
* Monitor use of weld consumables in compliance with relevant weld procedures.
* Conduct final assembly visual and dimensional inspections as per specified drawings and specifications.
* Coordinate with internal departments to identify, define, and resolve product quality problems relating to welding/fabrication, while providing advice, guidance, and support.
* Conduct weld surveillance, recording necessary data when required by the project.
* Produce weld maps as required by projects.
* Support welder qualification testing as required.
* Complete roll‑forwards in SAP for all shared‑service and Holdco entities.
* Promote and adhere to Clyde Union Ltd Environmental Health and Safety policies, maintaining necessary controls to protect others.
* Perform all duties in accordance with the Company’s procedures to deliver and maintain the highest standards of ethical behaviour and serve as a role model.
* Develop personally within the role and participate in training and developmental activities assigned to oneself.
* Commit to training others to ensure workforce flexibility and meet business demands.
* Create and maintain good working relationships.
* Understand and use the correct reporting lines.
* Employees are expected to work whatever reasonable hours are necessary to meet job requirements.
* Travel to sister, vendor or customer sites; additional duties may be required on an ad‑hoc basis, requiring a degree of flexibility.
* Conduct reasonable requests outside of core duties to support business aims.
* Ensure process compliance in relation to route cards and SAP transactions.
* Achieve accuracy on completion of contract documentation.
Knowledge, Skills And Abilities
* CSWIP 3.1 or 3.2 visual testing.
* Experience in fabrication, welding, and assembly.
* Working knowledge of the company SAP system appropriate to the function.
* Experience with NDT processes, requirements, and acceptance criteria.
* Basic level of computer proficiency.
* Experience with ISO 9001, NQA‑1, ASME Codes and Standards, RCC‑M, ASNT‑TC‑1A and EN ISO 9712.
* Basic knowledge of EHS principals.
* Good written and oral communication, influencing and interpersonal skills.
* High level of attention to detail.
* High degree of integrity with highly professional conduct.
* Ability to work independently with limited supervision.
* Willingness to travel to sister sites and/or vendors and to spend time away from home.
