We are looking for an experienced Functional Skills Tutor to deliver Maths and English to learners across Buckinghamshire. About the Role Subjects: Functional Skills Maths and English (Entry Level to Level 2) Learners: Young people and adults with Social, Emotional & Mental Health (SEMH) needs and Special Educational Needs (SEN), including those who may present challenging behaviour Delivery: In-person, 1:1 or small group sessions Key Responsibilities Assess students’ individual learning needs and starting points Plan and deliver tailored sessions to support progress and confidence Develop engaging resources and adapt teaching methods Foster a supportive, positive, and inclusive learning environment Monitor, record, and report on student progress Liaise with parents, carers, and other professionals as needed About You Essential: QTS (Qualified Teacher Status) or minimum 3 years’ tutoring experience Proven experience delivering Functional Skills Maths and English Experience working with students with SEMH and SEN needs, including those who may be hard to engage Able to assess, plan, and deliver highly personalised sessions Resilient, patient, and adaptable approach Desirable: Experience in alternative provision or PRU settings Knowledge of safeguarding and SEND best practices What We Offer Competitive hourly rate: £20–£30 per hour Flexible working to suit your availability Supportive team and ongoing professional development The opportunity to have a meaningful impact on learners’ lives All applicants will require the appropriate qualifications and training for this role.
