Job Summary
An exciting and interesting opportunity is available for a suitably qualified Clinical, Counselling or Health psychologist to join the General Medicine Psychology team within the Clinical Health Psychology Department at Salford Royal Hospital. You will join a well-established psychology team providing psychological assessment and care to a range of diagnoses. The post holder will be expected to offer expertise at a senior level in Clinical Health Psychology, with team working integral to the role including MDT meetings, liaison, teaching, and joint working with professional colleagues to support the wider medical/nursing team in relation to psychological aspects of care.
Main duties of the job
* Support the Consultant Lead Psychologist to provide senior leadership, supervision and support for the members of the general medicine psychology team.
* Triage and assess referrals from the 15 medical specialisms.
* Lead on service delivery for complex cases within the general medicine service, in collaboration with the service lead.
* Lead on several areas of the general medicine service as a special interest, developing links with specialist nurses, medical team, relevant special interest groups and 3rd sector agencies. Develop teaching for the university ClinPsyD Programmes, Health psychology course and IAPT training in these specialist areas, as required.
* Contribute to clinical pathways and development of business cases to maintain capacity for this growing service, in consultation with the service lead.
* Provide specialist assessment and treatment recommendations for individuals accessing the general medicine health psychology service.
* Manage referrals from multiple sources, maintain outpatient clinical psychology waiting lists, and autonomously manage own caseload.
* Line manage an assistant psychologist where needed and contribute to specialist supervision of other psychology team members.

Essential Qualifications
* BSc Psychology degree or equivalent (recognised by the British Psychological Society).
* British Psychological Society Accredited Doctoral Degree in Clinical, Health or Counselling Psychology.
* Further training in supervision of psychological therapies.
* Training in 3rd wave psychological therapies.
* The post holder must be able to satisfy the criteria for HCPC Registration for the advertised role.
Desirable Qualifications
* Relevant further specialist training in one or more therapy modalities.
* Training in trauma focused CBT or EMDR.
* Accreditation as a Supervisor for Psychology and/or Psychotherapy.
Knowledge / Experience / Skills
* Experience of working as a qualified psychologist with substantial post-qualification experience within a physical health setting.
* Experience of specialist psychological/psychotherapeutic assessments and treatments for service users with severe enduring and complex presentations and/or trauma.
* Experience of teaching, training and clinical supervision for psychological interventions within a healthcare setting.
* Experience of developing and delivering therapeutic interventions in various formats (individual and group).
* Experience of supervising qualified psychologists and/or psychological therapists and other staff in physical health settings.
* Experience of providing psychological services to individuals with physical health difficulties, including groups.
* Ability to contain and work with organisational stress and support colleagues.
* Excellent organisational and data management skills.
