Band 7 Lead Speech & Language Therapist – HMP
An exciting 12-month fixed term full-time Clinical Lead for Speech and Language Therapy at HMP Birmingham. The successful applicant will join a multidisciplinary team delivering mental health and LDA pathways in a busy remand prison.
The post would suit an applicant who has a genuine interest in working with an adult offender population, who present with complex mental health and communication needs, and who can work in a dynamic environment. As a member of the multidisciplinary team, you will work collaboratively with Occupational Therapy, Psychology, Nursing, Psychiatry, HMPPS staff and wider healthcare partners.
Working autonomously, the successful applicant will use initiative and demonstrate a range of skills including effective communication with clients, good organisation and time management, self-awareness and reflection, compassion and commitment.
Flexible working and hybrid working options available. The role will include assessment, planning and implementing evidence-based practice, reviewing and evaluating therapy using therapy outcome measures, providing advice to other professionals regarding management of clients with communication needs, modifying materials, attending and contributing to clinical team meetings, report writing and completing administrative tasks relevant to the role.
