Senior Software Engineer- (C#/.NET, Azure, queues storage, event sourcing, Batch processing)
Location: Remote (occassional trip into Southampton office)
Salary: £70,000–£90,000 + bonus + excellent benefits

A global, software firm that has over 75 years of industry heritage and a worldwide presence. The team I am working with builds advanced modelling and reporting tools for the life insurance sector. One of its flagship platforms is a market-leading Azure-based solution used by major insurers to run large-scale financial models and simulations.
The engineering team operates one of the world’s largest Azure batch computing environments outside of Microsoft – a high-performance, cloud-native engine trusted by leading financial institutions.
The Role
We’re hiring a Senior Software Engineer to join the team behind this powerful product. You’ll take ownership of backend features, mentor junior developers, and work on the next evolution of the platform — including a shift toward Linux-based processing and GPU-powered computation. The role is primarily backend focused, with occasional light frontend work to support internal tools.
What You'll Do
* Design, develop, and maintain scalable services using C#/.NET
* Work on distributed, event-driven systems in the cloud with Azure.
* Collaborate closely with engineers, QA, analysts, and product teams
* Provide technical leadership and code mentorship to junior developers
* Solve performance, concurrency, and scalability challenges in a multithreaded environment
* Help drive the move to Linux and containerised workloads using Docker, AKS
* Support modernisation efforts including GPU computation and observability
Tech Stack
* C# / .NET
* Azure: Batch, Blob/Table/Queue Storage, AKS, CosmosDB
* Distributed event-driven architecture (CQRS/event sourcing)
* Docker, Linux
* Frontend: minimal exposure to JavaScript but more backend programming
* DevOps and CI/CD
Requirements
* 7+ years’ experience in commercial software engineering
* Deep experience with backend development in .NET and C#
* Solid understanding of distributed systems and multithreaded programming
* Strong debugging, problem-solving, and logging/tracing skills
* Cloud experience (Azure)
* Collaborative mindset with experience mentoring others

Interview Process
* Introductory phone call (30 mins)
* Technical Task- 45 minutes
* Final Interview split into a technical session and meet 2 of the Engineering Leaders
