A large and well-organised 11–18 secondary school in Croydon is seeking a proactive and resilient Attendance & Welfare Officer to join its pastoral team. This is a vital role focused on improving attendance, strengthening family engagement and supporting vulnerable students to access education consistently. Attendance improvement is a key strategic priority, and the successful candidate will play a central role in driving measurable impact. The Role As Attendance & Welfare Officer, you will work closely with Heads of Year, safeguarding leads and senior leadership to monitor, analyse and intervene in cases of persistent absence. Your responsibilities will include: • Monitoring daily attendance and first-day absence procedures • Conducting attendance tracking and producing weekly reports • Meeting with families to address attendance concerns • Coordinating attendance panels and support plans • Liaising with external agencies and local authority services • Supporting safeguarding processes linked to absence This role requires a balance of data analysis, relationship-building and structured intervention.
