Our team of hundreds of skilled experts keep Formula 1 moving. We’re on the lookout for a Track Systems Technician! Reporting to the Track Systems Team Manager, the main purpose of this role is the installation, deployment, and management of the F1 timing data acquisition and communications system at F1 race locations.
Main Duties & Responsibilities:
* Competently install the timing loops, beacons, and track temperature sensors on the track surface. This involves manual work including digging, soldering, and operating machinery and tools (health and safety training provided).
* Work safely, adhering to company and location-specific health and safety requirements.
* Install, test, and terminate coaxial and multi-core twisted pair data cables used for communication systems.
* Test and verify the correct functioning of all timing data acquisition equipment and related hardware.
* Perform fault finding on basic IT networks and cable systems.
* Compile and publish reports for the department.
* Work outdoors in various global locations.
* Maintain and transport tools and equipment between races.
* Read and work according to F1 Circuit Drawings for correct equipment setup.
* Configure and monitor data using F1 software, report issues accordingly.
* Mark loop IDs on track with spray paint.
* Install beacon fittings in track and pit lane.
* Mark front axle points for pit-stop boxes.
* Configure and deploy timing decoders, pit lane nodes, and workshop furniture.
About You:
* Experience in electronics or network IT environments.
* Fault finding skills on electrical/electronic wiring systems.
* Ability to read and work with wiring diagrams and technical drawings.
* Well-presented, organized, with a positive attitude.
* Team player, capable of working outdoors in various weather conditions.
* Willing to travel regularly for extended periods (1-3 weeks).
* Eager to learn and interested in technical subjects related to the role.
* Excellent communication skills, able to express oneself clearly and concisely.
