The Role: Electrical Technician
As an Electrical Technician at ORCA, you will be responsible for the assembly, installation, testing, maintenance, and refurbishment of electrical systems and equipment used in diving and offshore operations. Working within our workshop and supporting field activities when required, you'll play a key role in ensuring equipment is delivered safely, reliably, and to the highest quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
· Assemble, install, and test electrical systems, control panels, and equipment in accordance with engineering drawings and specifications.
· Carry out fault-finding, diagnostics, repair, and maintenance of electrical and electronic systems.
· Install, terminate, and test electrical cabling, instrumentation, and control circuits.
· Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, panel layouts, and technical documentation.
· Support the build, refurbishment, and upgrade of diving systems, control systems, and associated offshore equipment.
· Conduct inspection, testing, and certification activities using calibrated test equipment.
· Identify defects, non-conformances, or equipment failures and provide detailed reports to the Project Engineer.
· Assist with commissioning, functional testing, and integration of electrical systems both in the workshop and at customer sites.
· Ensure all work is completed in accordance with applicable standards, regulations, and company procedures.
· Maintain accurate records of inspections, tests, maintenance activities, and modifications.
· Support mobilisation and demobilisation activities for offshore projects and customer equipment.
· Maintain workshop tools, test equipment, and work areas in a safe and organised condition.
· Record defects and improvement opportunities through the Quality Management System.
· Comply with all Health, Safety, Environmental, and Quality (HSEQ) requirements and exercise Stop Work Authority when necessary.
· Actively participate in safety initiatives, including electrical safety, isolation procedures, lifting operations, and risk assessments.
What We're Looking For
· Time-served Electrical Technician, Electrician, Instrument Technician, or equivalent engineering qualification.
· Experience in electrical assembly, maintenance, and fault-finding within industrial, offshore, marine, or subsea environments.
· Strong understanding of electrical systems, control panels, instrumentation, and low-voltage power distribution.
· Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, schematics, and technical documentation.
· Experience using electrical test equipment and carrying out inspection and testing activities.
· Knowledge of relevant electrical regulations and industry standards.
· Strong commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
· Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
· Flexible approach to work, including occasional travel and site-based support when required.
