Join us as a recruitment and promotion specialist and play a pivotal role in shaping the future leadership of our police force. You’ll help coordinate fair, high‑quality recruitment and promotion processes across all ranks from sergeant to chief superintendent, working closely with senior leaders to identify talent, assess potential, and support individuals as they progress through structured development pathways.
Salary - £30,333 - £32,613
This/These post(s) attract allowances - Night Working Allowance, Weekend Working Enhancement
Weekend enhancement - 96.46 hours per annum for the 192.92 hours worked
Night allowance - 8.69 hours per annum for the 26.07 hours worked

This is an exciting opportunity for a recruitment professional who thrives in a fast‑paced, meaningful environment—someone who can balance compliance with creativity, bring fresh ideas to talent selection, and is passionate about helping people grow into roles that make a real difference to our communities.
One full time, permanent position is available. The position is predominantly Monday to Friday, 0900hrs to 1700hrs, though you\u2019ll also work two evening shifts per month (until 9:00pm) and two Saturdays per month. Flexibility in start and finish times is essential to support recruitment events, which may occur outside regular hours. Appropriate allowances will be paid for evening and weekend work.
Responsibilities
* Lead end‑to‑end recruitment and promotion processes across a range of police ranks, ensuring fairness, consistency, and compliance with national frameworks.
* Coordinate the various selection stages, including shortlisting, interviews, and assessments, working collaboratively with senior leaders and operational colleagues.
* Provide expert advice on the Competency and Values Framework (CVF) and support candidates in understanding requirements and expectations.
* Develop high‑quality candidate materials, briefing packs, and communications to ensure a positive and professional candidate experience.
* Build strong, trusted relationships with senior leaders and key stakeholders, providing expert guidance on recruitment and promotion strategies, influencing decision‑making, and ensuring alignment with organisational priorities
* Support the planning and delivery of promotion boards including interview panels, logistics and panel training.
* Manage a team of Talent Acquisition Assistants to ensure the efficient delivery of promotion boards.
Skills and experience
* Proven experience delivering end‑to‑end recruitment or selection processes in a fast‑paced, multi‑stakeholder environment.
* Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple moving parts, deadlines, and priorities while maintaining high standards of accuracy.
* Confident working with senior leaders, able to build credibility quickly and influence decision‑making through clear, structured advice.
* Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to explain processes, requirements, and decisions clearly to a wide range of audiences.
* Experience coordinating assessment centres, interviews, or multi‑stage selection processes.
* Proactive problem‑solver with a continuous improvement mindset and comfort working with ambiguity or evolving priorities.
* Demonstrated commitment to fairness, inclusion, and delivering a positive candidate experience.
* Strong IT and data-handling skills, with a focus on accuracy, compliance, and clear record‑keeping.

The successful candidate for this role will have the opportunity to work from home whilst also at a secondary work location, which will be a police premises. The successful applicant will have the option to discuss working arrangements with their line manager. All applicants must reside within the UK.
