Job Description
General Purpose: We are looking for a time-served Electrical Assembly Engineer who will be responsible for ensuring that equipment and machinery are wired to a high standard within expected timelines. You will help the team provide an exceptional customer experience by achieving our Operational Excellence goals of on-time shipments, zero warranty, and vertical start-ups at customer facilities, while driving continuous improvement and upholding the company’s policies and values.
Responsibilities
* Assemble / wire control panel back plates, mount electrical field wiring components, and manage cables to Customer Specification & BWIS Standards with proper labelling
* Read and analyse electrical wiring and schematic diagrams, bills of materials, and specifications
* Communicate build and documentation issues to Operational Leadership and/or Engineering
* Perform Earth, Rotation & I/O checks on control panel & machine wiring prior to handover to Controls Engineer
* Sign off worksheet to confirm quality checks are completed
* Fault tracing and reporting on packaging machinery and a wide range of static electrical site plant
* Assist with electrical maintenance of the facility if required
* Support internal and customer pre-delivery inspections
* Dismantle equipment and assist with packing and loading if required
* Attend customer sites to unload, install, and service equipment, in the UK or overseas as needed
* Offer guidance and support to supplementary electrical assembly labour, ensuring BWIS procedures, quality and safety standards are followed
* Ensure time is booked to the relevant manufacturing order and weekly timesheets are submitted on time
* Provide training, guidance, and support to apprentices and other assembly team members to increase skills
* Identify process and product improvements using L3 tools
* Support the integration of new product lines adopted by BWIS
* Keep work areas clean and organized, free from hazards and customer-ready
* Comply with Health & Safety at Work Act 1974 and BWIS policies
* Wear safety glasses and shoes in the assembly areas; use additional PPE as required
* Be available and flexible to work overtime in evenings and weekends when required
* Travel domestically and internationally as needed, sometimes on short notice
* Attend training courses to support duties and development; travel may be required
Qualifications & Experience
* 3+ years’ experience as an electrician or electrical assembly engineer, ideally in the packaging industry
* Education in a relevant engineering discipline; Advanced NVQ Level 3 or equivalent
* Excellent interpersonal and time management skills
* PC skills in Windows and Microsoft Office
* Self-starter with a flexible, can-do attitude
* Ability to work independently or as part of a team
* Drive and determination to succeed
* Possess appropriate hand tools
