Job overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen in the Gastroenterology and Screening Directorate for a full time Band 5 Clinical Audit Officer. Previous experience in undertaking audits and creating reports is essential.
The role will involve supporting the Senior Management team and Clinical Leads to undertake all necessary audits within the Directorate, including audit to ensure compliance to JAG (Endoscopy) accreditation and Screening SQAS. The post holder will be responsible for ensuring that the audit programme is monitored and shared at departmental level.
The post holder will also be expected to contribute to the implementation and management of the Trust and Departmental clinical audit and effectiveness programme.
The post holder will be expected to work at both Brighton and Hayward’s Heath although the post is based at RSCH.

Main duties of the job
§ To undertake and ensure the completion of clinical audit projects in co-operation with the operational lead for the project. § To develop speciality wide project plans of work which are comparing current practice with evidence-based best practice, with special attention paid to published NICE guidelines, technology appraisals, and international procedures .
§ Oversee the administration of the audit programme required for national bodies such as the SQAS and Joint Advisory Group (JAG) and ensure that data for these audits is collected is accurate and submitted in line with deadlines.
§ To actively encourage client/patient involvement in clinical audit, and seek opportunities to involve consumers/patients where this would give added value.
§ To maintain a relationship with representatives of other departments within the Trust in order to keep abreast of any developments in national audit / governance initiatives which relate to the Speciality and ensure that these are brought to the attention of the nominated Lead.
§ Supporting the Endoscopy Lead to meet the departmental Audit Strategies
§ Supporting the Clinical Managers in undertaking any necessary clinical reviews
§ Utilise outcomes data in order to improve service provision.
§ Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of wider clinical governance issues.
§ To attend Speciality meetings where appropriate.
§ To support Governance Lead, during the departmental Quality and Gastroenterology Governance meetings
