As part of our strategic development, the urgent care services will be delivered by WHTH NHS Trust from May 2026. To support the success of this transition and strengthen our multidisciplinary approach, we are investing in the growth of our Advanced Practice workforce across all areas of urgent and emergency care.
We are excited to invite applications for Advanced Practitioners (Band 8a) positions in our dynamic and expanding Emergency Medicine Division. As an Advanced Practitioner, you will play a crucial role in supporting both the nursing and medical teams within the Emergency Department. You will work closely with multidisciplinary teams to ensure the delivery of outstanding patient care, from the first point of contact through to admission or discharge.

Main duties of the job
This exciting opportunity will include early assessment of patients, access to investigations, consultation, independent prescribing, and liaison with medical, nursing, AHP and support teams. You will be expected to exercise a high degree of professional autonomy and integrity to make critical judgments to satisfy the expectations and demands of the role.
As we operate a 7-day service, you will be required to work a variety of shifts covering a 7-day rota across all areas within the Emergency Division.

Education and Qualifications
* Registered with relevant professional body
* MSc in advanced Practice
* Teaching & Assessing qualification
* ALS Provider
* ETC
* Leadership course
* ALS instructor
Knowledge
* Advanced clinical knowledge within Emergency Medicine
* Comprehensive understanding of safeguarding issues
* Demonstrates an understanding of both the health and social care agenda
* Risk assessment and management
* Knowledge of case management
* Understanding of the legal framework for working at an advanced level
* Shows an understanding of the challenges of communicating across professional boundaries
* Able to teach in a group setting
* Involvement in National agenda
* Ability to influence and advise senior managers
* Evidence of service redevelopment
* Initiation or participation in audit/research projects.
Experience
* Experience of working as a qualified ACP within Acute/Urgent care or clinical speciality
* Proven track record in Acute care settings
* Evidence of managing complex patients in a stressful and emotional situation where life changing events are being communicated and clinically managed
* Experience of designing and delivering training and education for healthcare professionals
* Direct supervision of junior staff
* Evidence of lead for or contribution to audit programmes within practice
* Evidence of continuing professional development and practical application of new skills to the workplace
* Experience of delivering training and education for healthcare professionals
* Experience of developing protocols & policies
* Evidence of using clinical Governance framework to influence care and improve outcome.
