There is an exciting opportunity to join our small team in Pathology at The Rotherham NHS Foundation Trust as a Pathology Specimen Support Worker. The post is for 30 hours per week, working 4 days over a 7-day rota (between the hours of 8am - 9pm).

Role Overview
We are seeking a team player who is a good communicator and dedicated to patient care. Responsibilities include:
1. Using and administering pneumatic tube systems, monitoring, troubleshooting, and liaising with ward staff.
2. Accurately entering patient and clinical details into the laboratory computer system, sometimes for prolonged periods.
3. Sorting, prioritising, and registering samples appropriately.
4. Answering telephone enquiries and retrieving data from the laboratory computer.
5. Handling specimen reception, ensuring samples are correctly checked, barcoded, and matched with request forms.
6. Performing basic sample preparation, including centrifugation.
7. Transporting samples to the appropriate laboratory.
8. Scanning request forms into the Datalog system and troubleshooting scanning issues.
9. Dealing sensitively with patient enquiries and problems.
10. Ensuring all tasks adhere to SOPs and regulations to maintain high-quality service.
