Overview
Senior Flight Control Engineer role at Callen-Lenz. Location: Bristol. Vacancy Reference: CLA-345. Position: Full-time. Salary Range: £60,000 - £70,000.
Callen-Lenz specialises in crewed and uncrewed aircraft operations and technology. We are expanding and seeking key roles to support growth in the UK UAS sector.
Responsibilities
* Model-based design of flight control software using Simulink or similar.
* Lead the design and maintenance of autopilot simulation software.
* Coordinate and contribute to flight performance studies.
* Develop flight dynamics models for company products.
* Provide oversight and coaching of team members in related software development tools.
* Collaborate with colleagues and stakeholders to define software requirements.
* Review software source code and model designs.
* Collaborate with other engineering disciplines.
* Lead testing and test recording to ensure correct operation of software and that requirements are met.
* Lead the software team within projects to deliver activities to cost and schedule.
* Support the Project Manager in scoping, defining and estimating project tasks.
* Demonstrate a commitment to health and safety in the workplace and report hazards or incidents as required.
* Participate in health and safety training when required.
* Perform other duties as required.
Qualifications
About You
BSc or MSc degree in an Engineering related subject.
Essential
* Experience in designing and documenting control systems.
* Deep understanding of aeronautics and control theory.
* Considerable experience designing and documenting software.
* Experience using MATLAB & Simulink.
* Knowledge of a variety of programming languages and tools.
Desirable
* Understanding of real time and embedded software.
* Knowledge of safety related engineering practices.
* Leadership and mentoring of software engineers.
* Previous experience or interest in UAVs.

* Must be a British Citizen or have an existing right to work in the UK
* Ability to commit to occasional national and international travel
* Excellent communicator
* Excellent problem-solving ability
* Ability to work well in a team
* Enthusiasm for their work and self-motivated
* Ability to hold Security Clearance – 5 years residence in the UK
