Rate of Pay: £12.21 - £15.48 per hour
Summary:
The Processing Officer (Financial Assessment) delivers a range of transactional and administrative services within the Revenues & Benefits team. The role involves calculating, recording, and processing financial assessments in accordance with relevant legislation, Council policies, and established business processes. The postholder will ensure accuracy in financial transactions, provide advice to customers and colleagues, and contribute to the continuous improvement of service delivery.
The ideal candidate will have strong analytical skills, excellent attention to detail, and experience in a customer-focused administrative or finance environment.
Responsibilities:
* Calculate, record, and process financial and business transactions in line with legislation, Council policies, and local conventions.
* Analyse and assess financial and personal data to determine payment or collection outcomes.
* Provide advice, guidance, and support to customers regarding financial assessments, payments, and benefits processes.
* Follow established business processes and procedures to ensure consistency and accuracy in work delivery.
* Identify potential process improvements and share ideas for service enhancement.
Requirements:
* Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
* Proven experience in data input and maintenance within business or financial systems.
* Demonstrable understanding of transactional processing procedures.
* Knowledge of relevant legislation or specialist areas such as council tax, benefits, payroll, or procurement.
* Experience working in a customer service or administrative environment.
* Understanding of confidentiality and data protection requirements.
* Strong IT skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
* Ability to analyse information, make informed decisions, and meet strict deadlines.
