Basic Purpose and Function
* To provide a desktop Motor engineering service as part of a team of motor engineers to our clients as part of the settlement of a motor incident.
* The ability to produce accurate and compliant vehicle damage repair assessments/estimates. Across the full range of vehicle makes and types using manufactures / Thatcham research approved repair methods.
* To be fully complaint with the use of the accident repair industry damage assessment systems and tools (audatex)
* To manage process and authorise vehicle damage assessments in a timely manner in accordance with industry best practice.
* To be able to accurately assess, process and value vehicles that are beyond economical repair to industry and AQP standards, using industry guides and tools.
* To be able to negotiate and resolve disputes with customers and vehicle damage repairers.
* To be a technical point of contact for our clients. Claims teams, and repair management teams for vehicle repair and total loss engineering referrals
* To be a key member of the motor engineering and supply chain team / provide training and support for other team members.
* To be able to provide a range of technical analytics services including audits, TP costs. Fraud and compliance reviews.
* To be able to Demonstrate knowledge of FSA, ABI and FOS regulations and standards for the processing of motor claims.
* To able to resolve a wide range of technical, motor engineering problems.
* To be able to demonstrate a proficient level of analytical skills and data/ information mining. To understand performance
* Be able to meet a range of engineering task processing to meet business KPI’s and targets.
* Be a could communicator and able to communicate at all levels within the business.
Key Tasks
* Use role specific systems – claims systems. Audatex, GT motive, salvage code of practice, Miaftr, caps and Glasses valuation guides, suppliers salvage systems.
* Engineering of full repair assessments and processing of total losses.
* Salvage categorisation and processing
* Mange repair costs and repair methods with repair
* Referring and engaging with client when over authority levels
* Managing storage and recoveries costs.
* Communicating with clients, suppliers, and internal colleagues
* Recording and working with information on the claims systems
* Basic problem solving and negotiation.
* Escalation of customer issues or complaints to a more senior member of staff if unable to resolve.
* Approving repair invoices and raising work orders for a range of repair services.
* Technical representative providing technical knowledge to clients or operational teams and dealing with technical motor engineering referrals.
Qualifications
Essential
* At least 5 years Motor engineering. damage assessment knowledge/ experience, IAEA, or ATA VDA, qualified.
* Motor repair industry qualification IMI, ATA, NVQ. city and guilds
* To be able to demonstrate a proficient level of vehicle accident repair industry knowledge.
* Good Negotiation and problem-solving skills.
* Basic claim handling knowledge
* Effective communication skills
* Good understanding of the motor insurance industry
Desirable
* Proficient level of motor claims handling experience /Knowledge
Knowledge of relevant legislation – Financial Ombudsman Service (FOS) Financial Services Authority (FSA) Data Protection Act (DPA
