CPI has an exciting opportunity for an investment associate to join its investorengagement and ventures arm of CPI’s enterprises team. Part of a small, agile, and highly motivated team, the successful candidate will support the team working to connect private investors with high-growth, early-stage technology companies. The mission: to drive innovation and investment in the UK economy through strategic partnerships and venture development.
Reporting to the Head of Investor Partnerships, the role holder will be responsible for researching and analysing the private investment community in order to inform a business development plan and support relationship management activities. The role holder will also support the MD with the active management of CPI Enterprises’ investment portfolio and analysis of potential investment opportunities as and when they arise.

1. Researching private investment trends and market analysis
2. Preparing investor briefings and supporting relationship management
3. Analysing internal and external opportunities for investment
4. Supporting due diligence and investment committee reporting
5. Using CPI’s Innovation Integrator to assess opportunities
6. Recommending processes for tracking key metrics
The person we are seeking
The Person
It is essential you are qualified to Degree level (or equivalent) / master’s degree level (or equivalent) or above, in a Scientific / Engineering or Business Related (such as Marketing, Finance, Economics) discipline plus significant / relevant industrial experience in strategic marketing, finance or investment analysis roles and have;
7. Demonstrable knowledge and experience of investing in early-stage technology companies
8. A proven track record of assimilating complex data and synthesising into clear, unambiguous business proposals and recommendations for decision making
9. Demonstrable track record of working with collaborative teams and leaders in organisations
10. Experience of analysing, visualising and communicating data in a compelling way
11. Strong Excel and MS Office skills
It would be great if you also had:
12. Experience with venture capital funds, family offices, or HNWs
13. Relevant experience of operating within an innovation, research and development environment
14. Relevant knowledge/ experience of the innovation eco-system and investors in early stage companies
15. Expertise in data automation (e.g. Excel VBA, Python, Microsoft Flow)
