EG224890 - Fixed Term Consultant Paediatric Haematologist. Fixed Term for 6 months. Based at Royal Aberdeen Children’s Hospital and the Haematology Laboratory at Aberdeen Royal Infirmary. Full-time post within NHS Grampian.
Responsibilities
* Provide clinical expertise in a broad range of benign and malignant neonatal and paediatric Haematology.
* Involve in laboratory Haematology and contribute to clinical research; develop the service in line with departmental interests.
* 1 PA per week contributing to the adult Haematology service (area to be agreed with the Service Clinical Director).
* On-call rota participation for the Paediatric Haematology and Oncology Service; provide malignant and non-malignant Haematology advice to Paediatric and Neonatal teams during office hours and on call.
* Provide Haematology advice to primary and secondary care (approximately 1 in 5 with prospective cover).
* Laboratory reporting for 1 PA per week.
* Contribute to a multi-disciplinary team with Paediatric Haematology/Oncology, Paediatric doctors in training, Clinical Nurse Specialists, Data Manager and Clinical Research Nurse.
Qualifications and requirements
* UK trained with evidence of higher specialist training leading to CCT or within 6 months of confirmed entry on the GMC Specialist Register from date of interview; or possess CESR / CESR (CP).

Location and service context
The Haematology Department serves the North of Scotland within NHS Grampian. Royal Aberdeen Children’s Hospital is co-located with Aberdeen Royal Infirmary and collaborates with other centres across Scotland with MDT working as a cornerstone of the national service. The unit provides shared care support to NHS Highland with monthly visiting clinics.
