Position: Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) – SEND Support Location: Runcorn Contract: Full-time, Temp-to-Perm Opportunity Start Date: Immediate or September Start A welcoming and inclusive secondary mainstream school in Runcorn is seeking a committed and experienced Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join their dedicated team. This is a full-time position, with the potential to transition from a temporary contract to a permanent role for the right candidate. The Role The HLTA will work closely with teaching staff to support the learning and development of students with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). This role involves providing in-class support, delivering targeted interventions, and fostering a positive, inclusive learning environment where every student can succeed. Key Responsibilities Support students with a range of SEND needs, including autism, ADHD, speech and language difficulties, and social, emotional, and mental health needs Assist in the planning and delivery of differentiated learning activities Deliver small group and 1:1 interventions to support academic progress and personal development Monitor student progress and provide regular feedback to teaching staff and the SENCO Promote positive behaviour and emotional well-being Work collaboratively with teachers, support staff, and external agencies Contribute to the development of EHCP targets and personalised learning plans The Ideal Candidate Will Have: Proven experience supporting students with SEND in a secondary school setting HLTA qualification or equivalent experience working at HLTA level A strong understanding of SEND strategies and inclusive practices Excellent communication and interpersonal skills The ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and families A patient, empathetic, and resilient nature A proactive approach and the ability to work independently as well as part of a team High levels of professionalism, reliability, and commitment to safeguarding This is an excellent opportunity for a passionate individual looking to make a real difference in the lives of young people, within a supportive and forward-thinking school community.
