About the Role
We are seeking to appoint a dedicated and inspiring Teacher of Sociology to join our successful and growing team. The successful candidate will teach Sociology across Key Stages 4 and 5 (with potential KS3 contribution depending on timetable), delivering high-quality lessons that engage, challenge and motivate students of all abilities.
This is an excellent opportunity for both Early Career Teachers and experienced practitioners looking to develop within a supportive and ambitious academy.
Key Responsibilities
* Plan and deliver high-quality Sociology lessons across KS4 and KS5.
* Develop engaging schemes of work and lesson resources aligned with exam board specifications.
* Monitor and assess student progress, providing clear and constructive feedback.
* Maintain high expectations for behaviour, achievement and participation.
* Contribute to curriculum development within the department.
* Act as a form tutor, supporting students’ academic and personal development.
* Engage positively with parents/carers and external agencies where required.
* Participate fully in departmental meetings, CPD and academy life.
Person Specification
The successful candidate will:
* Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
* Hold a relevant undergraduate degree in Sociology or a related subject.
* Have successful teaching experience at secondary level (teaching practice accepted).
* Demonstrate strong subject knowledge and understanding of effective teaching strategies.
* Have knowledge of GCSE and A-Level Sociology curriculum requirements.
* Show commitment to high expectations and inclusive education.
* Be an effective communicator with strong organisational skills.
* Demonstrate the ability to work collaboratively within a team.
* Be committed to professional development and continuous improvement.
Experience working within diverse, urban school settings is desirable but not essential.
