Role Overview
As a Functional Assessor, you will conduct assessments and produce fair, evidence‑based reports for individuals applying for Personal Independence Payment (PIP) as part of the DWP’s Health Assessment and Advisory Service (HAAS).
You will interview claimants to understand the challenges they face and carry out detailed assessments through telephone, video or face‑to‑face appointments. You will document how a claimant’s disability, condition or illness affects their ability to carry out everyday activities in a respectful, fair and reassuring manner.
With proven experience of working within a medical background you will:
* Analyse information critically to create accurate and concise reports.
* Interpret clinical information and evidence.
* Maintain professional standards in written communication and adherence to code of conduct.
* Provide positive experiences for claimants and colleagues, meeting quality and productivity targets.
Requirements
* A minimum of 1 year of clinical experience as a qualified healthcare professional.
* An ability to demonstrate broad clinical knowledge.
* Previous experience using computer software including Microsoft Office.
Essentials Qualifications (without these your application cannot be considered)
Nurses
* Qualified Nurse (RGN, RMN, RNLD only)
* Member of the Royal College of Nursing (RCN)
Physiotherapists / Occupational Therapists
* Qualified Chartered Physiotherapist or Qualified Occupational Therapist
* Member of the UK Health & Care Professions Council (HCPC)
* Member of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy (MCSP) or College of OT’s (COT)
Paramedics
* BSc or Qualified Paramedic
* Member of the UK Health & Care Professions Council (HCPC)

Upon completion of probation, the successful candidate will also be eligible for the company bonus scheme, allowing them to earn up to 10% of annual salary based on company and individual performance.
Salary: £40,000.00
Type: Permanent (Onsite role)
Full time: 40 hours (Mon - Fri from 8:30am - 5pm)
Location: Brighton. (You MUST be located within a 90‑minute radius of the site to be considered for this role)
