Responsibilities
* Participate in the day-to-day operation of the treatment units, brachytherapy unit, pre-treatment checking and CT on a rotational basis and perform duties as required.
* Provide information and support for all patients and their carers and demonstrate empathy and compassion.
* Assist with student training and maintain standards of work at all times.
* Assist in the daily organisation and running of the relevant unit and maintain an appropriate level of competence in each area.
* Maintain professional and technical standards of work within the department.
* Undertake regular checking of treatment sheets, calculations and treatment plans to ensure that the prescription is carried out accurately.
* Ensure that all patients receive accurate information and documentation relating to their treatment, potential side-effects and management of side-effects prior to the onset of treatment.
Requirements / Qualifications
* Qualified/qualifying Therapy Radiographer.
* Band 5 Radiographer, pivotal member of the team rotating through the treatment units, brachytherapy, pre-treatment checking and CT.
* Preceptorship scheme and comprehensive induction provided; ongoing support to develop skills and competencies to progress to Band 6 Radiographer.
* Interest in evolving radiotherapy with new technology and techniques; ability to engage with continuous development and adapt to advances (e.g., VMAT/IMRT, XVI imaging, adaptive Radiotherapy with Ethos Halcyon, SGRT).
