Fairfield is a large special school which provides for learners with a diverse range of complex and profound learning difficulties including physical and medical needs from 3-19 years. Fairfield was judged as continuing to be a ‘good’ school by OFSTED in June 2022.

We are seeking to appoint a dynamic experienced Safeguarding Support Officer to work alongside the Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) and senior leaders. Working as a part of the Safeguarding Team you will work closely with vulnerable families and professionals, attend meetings, respond to disclosures and liaise with external agencies. You will be responsible for the day-to-day work with families, children and outside agencies, sometimes needing to have difficult conversations with parents/carers. Your approach must be child-centred.

The successful candidate will:
* Have experience of working with children with SEND and the safeguarding requirements of schools.
* May have experience of working with vulnerable families and a good understanding of how outside agencies can assist in the safeguarding of children.
* Be enthusiastic, calm, caring, professional with good attention to detail. You will need to be resilient, empathetic, supportive and motivated. Full training will be given, with ongoing support from the DSL.
* Have IT skills to be able to use information portals and write and send reports as needed.
