Offer description

Drumduan is a modern and progressive Steiner School located in the beautiful North-East of Scotland overlooking Findhorn Bay and the Moray Firth, with an emphasis on experiential education, nature connection, and the creativity that flows from children being given the space to develop in a low technology school environment.

The school currently has students from Kindergarten to Class 12 in the Upper School with teaching and non-teaching staff.

Our school operates with a collective decision-making structure, the college of staff, at its centre. The Coordination Group aims to coordinate the running of the school to best support its pedagogical purpose and with heed to its financial sustainability.

In addition, there are School Development Groups (SDG) that are formed to hold fundraising initiatives together with the Parents, Teachers and Friends Association (PTFA). The Operations Team works closely with the SDG.

6. Work collaboratively with parents, organizing and presenting Parent Evenings and individual consultations, including Home Visits when needed.
7. Lead and inspire children, maintaining discipline and boundaries warmly, fostering confidence and effective learning.
8. Develop children's perseverance, curiosity, problem-solving skills, and good work habits.
9. Liaise with subject teachers, learning support, and curative staff; facilitate class screening when appropriate.
10. Adhere to the school’s Assessment Policy, aiming to improve teaching and learning based on children's needs.
11. Prepare the class for festivals and plays, supporting subject teachers as needed.
12. Organize and participate in outings, trips, and events.
13. Maintain records, pupil files, and document conversations with parents and professionals.
14. Write pupil reports in line with school practice and collate with subject teachers’ reports.
15. Participate in the admissions process for new pupils.

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Seek assistance from experienced colleagues or specialists when necessary.
2. Work with a mentor during the first year, as appointed by the School Coordination Team.
3. Participate in performance appraisal and peer observation.
4. Organize materials, liaise with responsible staff for purchases, and monitor budgets.
5. Attend staff meetings, out-of-hours meetings, inset days, and training days.
6. Participate in school events during holidays or weekends as required.
7. Adhere to school policies, including Equal Opportunities and Health and Safety.
8. Cover for absent colleagues when able, including supply teaching.
9. Supervise pupils during non-class hours within the school day.
10. You may be asked to teach other subjects or classes.
