Job Description

The Internal Sales Manager is responsible for structuring and leading the Internal sales team to maximise productivity and efficiency within the sales department. Accurate sales reporting to identify trends and react accordingly for people, process optimisation, systems, planning, and playing a pivotal role in scaling the business.
Working cross functionally with all departments, this role is responsible for developing and implementing an end-to-end transactional sales infrastructure from the ground up, centred around effective use of company CRM & ERP systems, to enable the delivery of budgeted sales and margin growth. Reporting directly to, and actively supporting the Sales & Marketing Director, the Internal Sales Manager will provide leadership, management, coaching and development to the internal sales team, encouraging empowerment and ownership.

Job Requirements


Essential experience and qualities

* Proven background in internal sales or sales operations within the construction or built‑environment sector, or a closely related technical industry such as engineering or manufacturing, involving complex, project‑based sales and multiple stakeholder engagement.
* Minimum of 5 years’ experience in an Internal Sales Manager, Sales Operations Manager or similar role, ideally within high‑growth SMEs handling high volumes of enquiries.
* Demonstrable, hands‑on experience of building, scaling and optimising an internal sales function, including designing sales infrastructure, processes, systems and ways of working from the ground up.
* Strong experience driving process improvement, automation and efficiency, using CRM, ERP and supporting technologies to improve performance, accuracy and customer experience.
* Proven ability to lead change and embed new ways of working, with a continuous improvement mindset and a practical, delivery‑focused approach.
* Excellent stakeholder management and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively across sales, operations, finance, IT and senior leadership.
* Strong people leadership capability, including building and leading teams, coaching and developing individuals, setting targets, managing performance and embedding a high‑performance, customer‑focused culture.
* Highly analytical and data‑driven, with proven experience using sales reporting, KPIs and insights to evaluate performance, inform decisions and support business growth.
* Strong customer‑centric mindset, with a passion for delivering reliable, efficient and high‑quality service in a commercial, project‑driven environment.
Desirable experience and qualities
* Experience within construction, engineering, industrial, or technical manufacturing environments.
* Exposure to international or multi‑region sales operations.
* Hands‑on experience using SAP B1 and Power BI.
* Strong working knowledge of CRM systems, ideally HubSpot


Job Responsibilities


* Provide overall leadership and accountability for the productivity, effectiveness and continuous optimisation of the internal sales function, including ownership of end‑to‑end transactional sales across all value streams.
* Work closely with the Executive Leadership Team and external sales / Business Development Managers to support sales growth in existing markets and enable Farrat’s international expansion.
* Partner with the external sales team to support opportunities linked to new regions, including the setup of sales and manufacturing operations where required.
* Drive efficiency through the design, delivery and continuous improvement of internal and transactional sales processes, procedures and ways of working, aligned to industry best practice and evolving market requirements.
* Lead the development, implementation and effective use of sales‑enabling technology in collaboration with the Finance Director and IT Manager, including CRM, ERP (SAP B1), customer communications, email and telephony systems.
* Ensure processes, procedures and work instructions are clearly documented, embedded and continuously reviewed to improve efficiency, automation and customer experience.
* Own and continuously enhance commercial reporting, including sales performance, forecasting, KPIs, metrics and insights to inform decision‑making and optimise sales effectiveness.
* Provide sales operations support to the wider commercial function, including forecasting and pipeline management, adherence to sales processes, and compliance with CRM data standards.
* Support the commercial function in the development of pricing structures within parameters defined by the Executive Leadership Team.
* Lead, manage and develop the internal sales team by:
o Designing and implementing a team structure aligned to growth objectives.
o Planning and managing resource to maximise output and efficiency as the business scales.
o Setting and managing annual internal sales targets in line with the overall sales budget.
o Monitoring performance through clear KPIs and structured performance management.
o Driving continuous learning and development through coaching, training and support.
o Embedding a customer‑centric, quality‑focused and continuous improvement culture.
* Plan and organise work effectively by:
o Ensuring projects are delivered professionally and in line with agreed best practice.
o Regularly reviewing workloads and priorities to ensure time and resource are used effectively.
o Collaborating with OMT functional leads to support day‑to‑day operational effectiveness.
* Contribute to market understanding and marketing activity by:
o Embedding systems and behaviours that enable continuous customer feedback and insight.
o Supporting the development and delivery of Farrat’s digital and traditional marketing strategy.
o Contributing to the creation and continual improvement of sales and marketing collateral.
