A vacancy has arisen for a Clinical Scientist within the East of Scotland Regional Genetic Laboratory Service, Ninewells Hospital, Dundee. This is an excellent opportunity to start a career within the NHS as a Clinical Scientist. Applicants must either be already registered as a Clinical Scientist with HCPC or be actively working towards registration; the starting salary will reflect registration status.
The successful applicant will be joining a team of scientific and technical staff to deliver testing and reporting for a range of rare and inherited disorders. In this role, you will authorise reports and work with Senior Clinical Scientists to translate new technologies into service. Knowledge of next generation sequencing and rare and inherited disorders is highly desirable. The individual must be proactive, able to prioritise their workload and work well in a team.
The laboratory provides a modern, high-quality genomic testing service for NHS Tayside and the rest of Scotland through the Scottish Strategic Network for Genomic Medicine. Co-located with other laboratory disciplines within Ninewells Hospital, the laboratory provides a testing service for inherited disorders, acquired disease (solid and haematological malignancies) and pharmacogenomics. In addition, the laboratory is the designated national centre for non-invasive prenatal testing. The Dundee laboratory offers high standards in terms of facilities and expertise to support staff professional and career development.
