An exciting opportunity has arisen at Battles, and we are looking for a supervisor to join our busy Despatch department.
Battles started in 1832 and is an award-winning manufacturer and leading provider of all the major animal health, equestrian and pet care brands worldwide. 193 years later, we are still going from strength-to-strength and continuing to carve our name as the first-choice equestrian wholesaler.
The role is fast paced and hands on. You'll be helping manage the despatch team of up to 25 staff daily to ensure targets and efficiency is at a maximum. The ideal candidate will be able to run and lead the department with little to no assistance. We are looking for someone who will push forward process improvements and the despatch department.
Working 43 hours per week. To work in conjunction with Team Leader between the hours of 07:45-19:45. Core hours for the main shift are:
Monday 07:45am - 19:45pm
Tuesday 08:45am - 19:45pm
Wednesday 10:45am - 19:45pm
Thursday 13:00pm - 19:45pm
Friday 13:45pm - 19:45pm
Duties
· Supporting the department and Team Leader
· Daily management of a team of up to 25 staff
· Ensuring performance and productivity is high within the department
· Development of staff and appraisals
· Supporting the department picking/packing orders
· Stock checks
· Managing the flow of work making sure the department is running efficiently
· Be a point of contact to resolve issues which may come arise
· Helping towards the development of the department with ideas of improvement
· Organisation of the staffing rotas and levels needed to fulfil the workload
· Training new starters to the department, ensuring they have the correct knowledge when starting
· Handling of paperwork and administration for the department
Experience
Essential:
· Previous experience in a Supervisor/Team Leader role
Desirable:
· Experience with Orderwise or other warehouse management systems
· Experience of handheld scanning/warehouse devices
· Previous experience of performance management and appraisals
Skills
· Analytical and problem-solving
· Flexible leadership style with ability to motivate staff to achieve results
· Excellent attention to detail
· Good communication and interpersonal skills
· Negotiation and mediation skills to handle situations should they arise
