TALENT POOL

This talent pool is an opportunity for Senior Commercial, Rights Business Affairs Managers interested in working with us. It isn’t a live role and doesn’t guarantee you will end up working with us. Talent pools are a chance for us to identify, meet and collate talent so that we can move more quickly and efficiently when opportunities come up. You don’t have to be available now to apply. THE ROLE

A commercial Rights & Business Affairs Manager will act as a principal point of advice and direction for the business and Legal Affairs team and represent BBC Studios boards when required. The role will require you to manage, conduct and oversee a wide range of legal & Business Affairs activities throughout various stages of production and ensure these are in accordance with relevant policies and frameworks.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

* Strategy development and implementation: support the implementation of strategies and business frameworks across portfolios to secure competitive commercial deals and enable BBC Studios to grow in accordance with the business plan, including development and maintenance of standard documentation and processes; propose and deliver innovative solutions to complex business problems.
* Partnering: forge excellent relationships across legal teams and wider business.
* Negotiation and contracting: collaborate with the lead Business Legal Affairs representative on negotiation of global commissioning deals; ensure a coordinated approach and strategic advice on more challenging deals.
* Advising: advise on all aspects of business affairs including day‑to‑day production risks, legal and commercial risks, editorial policy and compliance issues across portfolios with specific focus on a particular unit during times of significant workload.
* Risk management: assist in setting and ensuring compliance with frameworks for global commissioning deals across portfolios and ensure consistency of approach.
* Representation: represent Business & Legal Affairs at the most senior level with authority, credibility, tact and diplomacy; be a recognisable and vocal ambassador and advocate of strategy/growth plan and deal effectively at senior leadership level.


WHAT DOES IT TAKE?


KEY CRITERIA

* Legal qualifications.
* Experience negotiating content contracts and securing competitive terms with commissioners.
* Comprehensive knowledge of legal and commercial issues associated with producing content for commissioners.
* Highly business‑oriented with a commercial approach enabling quick market response.
* Adept at dealing with conflicts and devising solutions where trade‑offs are involved; help others resolve issues dispassionately.


DESIRABLE

* Knowledge and experience in television content production.
* Experience innovating and leading change in a complex, competitive environment.
