A global infrastructure and environmental engineering consultancy is hiring a Graduate Coastal Engineer to join its specialist coastal and marine engineering team based in Basingstoke.
This role offers hands-on experience working on coastal protection, flood defence, ports, harbours and maritime infrastructure projects across the UK and internationally.
Key Criteria
Education
* BEng in Civil, Structural or Coastal Engineering (2:1 or above)
* MEng preferred but not essential
Technical Interest
* Interest in coastal, marine, ports, flood defence or climate adaptation projects
* Final-year project related to coastal, ports or marine engineering is an advantage
The Opportunity
You’ll join a highly experienced coastal engineering team delivering projects that protect communities, adapt coastlines to climate change and support critical marine infrastructure.
From feasibility studies and hydraulic modelling to the detailed design of sea defences and ports, you’ll gain exposure to the full lifecycle of coastal engineering projects while being supported by experienced engineers and a structured graduate development programme.

What You’ll Do
As a Graduate Coastal Engineer, you will:
* Contribute to the design and delivery of coastal and maritime infrastructure projects
* Carry out overtopping and flood risk assessments
* Support inspections, feasibility studies and detailed design of sea defences and coastal structures
* Design and model structures such as revetments, breakwaters, sea walls, jetties and quay walls
* Produce civil and structural design calculations
* Create AutoCAD and BIM design drawings
* Use GIS, Python, R or modelling tools to support analysis and design
* Support cost estimates and economic appraisals

Skills & Attributes
* Strong analytical and numerical ability
* Comfortable working with drawings, calculations and technical reports
* Familiarity with coastal processes or coastal protection principles is an advantage
* Experience with AutoCAD, GIS, Python, R, Matlab or modelling tools is a plus
* Clear communicator who works well in a team
* Motivated to work towards professional engineer status
