We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Pharmacy Technicianto join our Primary Care Network (PCN) team. This is an exciting opportunity tobe part of the national transformation program in General Practice, developinga new model of care that supports safe, effective, and person-centeredmedicines management.

You will work closely with clinical pharmacists, GPs, nurses, and thewider multidisciplinary team to improve prescribing quality, promote medicinesoptimisation, and support patients in getting the best outcomes from theirmedicines.

The post holder will play a key role in enhancing repeat prescribingsystems, minimising medicines waste and ensuring best practice in line withNICE guidance and national initiatives. Youll also help to embed safe,cost-effective prescribing and contribute to local and national qualityimprovement frameworks such as QOF and IIF.

This role offers excellent opportunities for professional development,with access to appropriate clinical supervision, training, and support todevelop your skills within primary care.


Main duties of the job

Help patientsto get the best from their medicines by switching medications to agreed andapproved protocols, improving repeat prescribing processes in General Practice,including promotion of repeat dispensing and online ordering, minimisingclinical risk and aiming to reduce wasted medicines.

Supporteffective medicines use through patient-facing and supporting roles, includingmedicines reconciliation and reviews.

Workwith the multidisciplinary team to promote safe, efficient, and evidence-basedprescribing.

Assistin implementing and maintaining medicines for optimisation processes, repeatprescribing protocols, and electronic prescribing systems.

Provideguidance to staff on the legal and safe handling of medicines, promoting goodpractice and adherence to policy.

Helpdeliver national and local prescribing priorities, including antimicrobialstewardship, respiratory care indicators, and medicines for waste reduction.

Liaisewith community and hospital pharmacies to ensure seamless patient care duringtransfers.

Supportquality improvement activities across the PCN, contributing to QIPP, QOF, andenhanced service targets.

Participatein professional development and training, maintaining registration with theGPhC and CPD standards.

Person Specification


Qualifications

* Professional registration with GPhC.
* Meets the specific qualification and training requirements as specified by the GPhC criteria to register as a Pharmacy Technician.
* Meets the specific qualification and training requirements as specified by the GPhC criteria to register as a Pharmacy Technician; c. enrolled in, undertaking, or qualified from, an approved training pathway. For example, the Primary Care Pharmacy Educational Pathway (PCPEP) or Medicines Optimisation in Care Homes (MOCH).
* BTEC/NVQ level 3 or equivalent in pharmaceutical sciences.
* Evidence of continued professional development (CPD).


Experience

* Experience of working as a qualified, registered pharmacy technician in primary care, community, or hospital pharmacy.
* Demonstrate ability to influence and persuade partners and stakeholders of the respective merits of different options, innovations, new opportunities, and challenges.


Skills and Competencies

* Computer literate with an ability to use Microsoft office packages.
* Able to analyse and interpret prescribing data.
* Has attention to detail, able to work accurately, identifying errors quickly and easily Able to effectively manage allocated resources.
* Has a planned and organised approach with an ability to prioritise their own workload to meet strict deadlines
* Able to think analytically; anticipating obstacles and thinking ahead; using analytical techniques to draw logical solutions to problems.
* Excellent communication skills, verbal and written, with the ability to adjust communication style and content to suit the audience
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills with team members, patients, carers, and other healthcare professionals. Whilst recognising peoples needs for alternative methods of communication
* Influencing and negotiating skills
* An excellent understanding of data protection and confidentiality issues
* Computer literate with an ability to use the required GP clinical systems.
* Understand the aims of current healthcare policy within the PCN.
