This is a great opportunity to join our dedicated QSSHE team at Perenco, where you will be responsible for delivering the Occupational Hygiene program.
The primary focus of this position is the anticipation, recognition, evaluation, and control of workplace health risks across Perenco UK operations in the Southern North Sea. Continual improvement and standardisation of monitoring, auditing, and reporting systems are core components of this role. Responsibilities include ensuring compliance with statutory provisions, codes of practice, and industry guidelines, as well as promoting a positive approach to workplace health risks.
This position is based in our Norwich office, working Monday to Friday, with some travel to offshore and onshore sites as required.
Key Responsibilities Include:
1. Collaborate with medic/HSEA’s and operational teams to review Health Risk Assessments, identifying hazard categories, hazards, health impacts, routes of entry, and required monitoring or surveillance programs.
2. Implement occupational hygiene plans related to chemical, physical, biological, psychosocial, and ergonomic hazards, including but not limited to:
* Hazardous Substance Management and COSHH risk assessments
* Chemical exposure monitoring (e.g., benzene, toluene, xylene, mercury, lead, chromium, solvents, welding fumes, toxic gases)
* Asbestos management and surveys
* Noise and vibration management and assessments
* Radiation management and assessments
* Thermal hazard assessment
* Potable water management
* Communicable diseases, mould, animal and insect hazards, DSE, fatigue
• Design and recommend control strategies.
• Monitor and evaluate control measures such as LEV, PPE, RPE testing, and inspections.
• Deliver occupational hygiene training, including asbestos awareness, dust procedures, and PPE/RPE use and maintenance.
• Conduct assurance activities like inspections and audits across operational sites, including accommodation, welfare, and food areas.
• Maintain calibration systems for occupational hygiene equipment.
Key Requirements Include:
* Occupational Hygienist working towards or holding a BOHS Certificate of Operational Competence in Occupational Hygiene, via:
o Qualifying BOHS accredited degree, or
o Combination of BOHS W & P modules
1. At least 2 years’ experience in occupational hygiene, with knowledge of measurement techniques.
2. Passion and drive to champion occupational health and influence management and staff.
3. Excellent communication skills for presenting across various forums and mediums.
4. Ability to meet tight deadlines and produce high-quality work.
