Reports to: Operations Director Company: Manufacturer of Automation Equipment Accreditations: ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001 Health & Safety Manager - Overview We are seeking an experienced and proactive Health & Safety Manager to oversee all aspects of health, safety, and environmental compliance across our three UK sites: Chester (primary location), Birmingham, and Belfast. The successful candidate will lead the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of H&S systems in a highly technical manufacturing environment accredited to ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001. This is a hands-on role requiring strong leadership, excellent communication skills, and the ability to partner with operational teams to build a positive safety culture. Health & Safety Manager - Key Responsibilities * Maintain and continuously improve the company’s H&S management systems in line with ISO 45001, ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 requirements. * Develop, review, and implement H&S policies, procedures, and risk assessments across all sites. * Lead incident investigations, root-cause analysis, and corrective action processes. * Conduct regular site inspections, audits, and compliance checks to ensure safe working practices. * Ensure legal compliance with all relevant UK H&S and environmental legislation and standards. * Deliver H&S training, toolbox talks, and competency programs for all employees and visitors. * Provide coaching and guidance to site managers and team leaders. * Promote a strong safety culture focused on accountability, continuous improvement, and employee engagement. * Prepare monthly H&S performance reports, KPIs, and trend analyses for senior management. * Drive continuous improvement initiatives, including hazard identification, risk reduction measures, and environmental sustainability actions. * Collaborate with quality and operations teams to support integrated management systems and external audits. * Be the primary point of contact for the Chester site while overseeing H&S activities at the Birmingham and Belfast facilities. * Travel to Birmingham and Belfast sites on a scheduled basis and as operational needs require. Health & Safety Manager - Skills & Experience Required * NEBOSH Diploma (or equivalent) preferred; minimum NEBOSH General Certificate essential. * Strong experience in a manufacturing or engineering environment, ideally with exposure to automation or machinery. * Proven track record of managing H&S systems to ISO 45001 standards. * Understanding of ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 within an integrated management system. * Excellent communication, engagement, and influencing skills at all levels. * Strong analytical, problem-solving, and incident investigation capabilities. * Willingness to travel regularly to multi-site operations
