About the Role
They are looking for an experienced Backend Engineer to help design, build and operate a modern, cloud-native backend platform.
You’ll work across everything from infrastructure and platform reliability through to customer-facing features and internal tooling. The team operates across both backend services and platform engineering, offering a broad and technically rich scope of work.
You’ll be involved from early design discussions through to delivery and optimisation, contributing to architectural decisions and helping ensure systems are secure, scalable and resilient.
This role offers real influence, technical ownership and the chance to work on complex problems in a high-growth environment.
What You’ll Be Doing
• Building and maintaining backend services that power a high-traffic consumer platform
• Designing scalable, reliable infrastructure on AWS
• Developing and maintaining microservices and event-driven systems
• Supporting platform reliability, security and performance
• Collaborating closely with product, frontend, data and operations teams
• Contributing to technical decisions and system architecture
• Improving observability, monitoring and deployment pipelines
• Working on features that directly impact end users at scale
Skills and Experience
• Strong backend engineering experience in a production environment
• Solid experience with AWS and cloud-native architectures
• Strong knowledge of Go
• Experience working with Kubernetes and containerised services
• Infrastructure as code experience, ideally Terraform
• Strong understanding of observability tools such as Prometheus, Grafana or CloudWatch
• Experience working with SQL and data-intensive systems
• Exposure to event-driven or microservices architectures
• Comfortable working in fast-paced, product-led teams
• Product-focused mindset with strong problem-solving ability
• Interest in or experience using AI-assisted development tools
Nice to have:
• Experience with Elasticsearch or OpenSearch
• Familiarity with GitHub Actions or CI/CD pipelines
• Exposure to analytics or data platforms
Tech Environment
• AWS-based infrastructure with Kubernetes (EKS)
• Microservices and serverless architecture
• Terraform-managed infrastructure
• DynamoDB and cloud-native data stores
• Observability with Prometheus, Grafana and distributed tracing
• Modern web and mobile clients consuming APIs
• AI tooling and automation embedded into development workflows
