We are looking for an experienced and motivated Middleweight WordPress Front End Developer to join a dynamic in-house marketing team that also have their own internal design agency specialising in B2C dental and health marketing. This is an exciting role working with an entrepreneurial team where you will have opportunity to shape the role and grow within the business. remote role with weekly Zoom calls and quarterly face-to-face meetings in Birmingham – you would be based no more than 1.5 hours from Birmingham), salary £35-40k depending on experience.

About the role
As WordPress Developer, you will be reporting to their Lead Developer and work alongside another M/W front end developer and be responsible for building responsive website solutions using WordPress as well as overseeing all of the front end development of their numerous websites, which are mainly created using bespoke custom WordPress themes.
You will also manage existing websites for a number of their clients performing updates to content, general maintenance, QA testing and oversee the development of existing themes and, most importantly, bringing new ideas to the table.
About you
You are an experienced WordPress developer with strong Front end development skills. You enjoy working within a team environment and have good communication skills and a can do attitude.
You are solutions focussed and curious about ways to create better themes and templates, looking to create work that stands out and that you are proud of.
Key Responsibilities for the role
• Website Development: Implement WordPress websites from concept to completion.
• Theme Customisation: Modify and tailor WordPress themes to align with brand and
project goals.
• Plugin Integration: Install, configure, and optimise third-party plugins and tools to
enhance website functionality.
• Cross-Team Collaboration: Work closely with marketing, content, and design teams to
gather requirements and deliver high-quality results.
• Troubleshooting: Identify and resolve issues affecting website performance, usability,
or functionality.
• Optimisation: Ensure websites are responsive, fast-loading, and optimised for all
devices and platforms.
• Maintenance & Support: Provide ongoing updates, support, and maintenance for
existing WordPress sites.
• Continuous Improvement: Stay current with the latest WordPress updates, security
best practices, and web development trends.
Requirements
• Proven experience in WordPress frontend development.
• Strong knowledge of HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and PHP.
• Experience customising themes (preferably from scratch or child themes).
• Familiarity with page builders.
• Understanding of responsive design and cross-browser compatibility.
• Comfortable working with Git/version control systems.
• Strong troubleshooting and debugging skills.
• Excellent communication and time management abilities.
Nice to Have
• Experience working within an agency or multi-brand environment.
• Familiarity with SEO principles and best practices.
• Knowledge of website accessibility standards (WCAG).
• Basic understanding of backend WordPress development.
