Vale Centre for Health & Care

NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) is one of the largest healthcare systems in the United Kingdom, employing approximately 40,000 staff across a wide range of clinical and non-clinical professions and roles. The role:

The post holder will:

1. Work as part of a team to provide opening & lockup/security services for the WDHSCP buildings
2. Provide comprehensive facilities (caretaking) & security service to facilitate the smooth running of The Health Centre
3. Act as a communication hub for facilities matters
4. Order/rotate stock as required and distribute throughout building
5. Provide facilities services to departments/practices as required

This role does not meet the eligibility criteria for a or a Heath and Care Worker visa. NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) is unable to provide candidates or employees with a Certificate of Sponsorship (CoS).

Duration, Location, and Working Pattern:

6. We have a 25 hour post, available for a dynamic and forward thinking individual, you will be based in the Vale Centre for Health and Care, but may be required to work across West Dunbartonshire HSCP.

8. This is a Fixed term post for 12 months
9. Please note the salary is Pro Rata for part time hours
10. Please note interviews will be held on Tuesday 24th March

Key responsibilities:

11. Responsible for security of the premises, opening and locking of buildings, setting/un-setting of
12. alarms, opening/locking doors/departments throughout the health centre
13. Responsible for internal and externals security of the building, checking all windows/doors,
14. making regular tours of the building
15. Grounds maintenance which includes litter picking, gritting car park/patient access routes etc
16. during adverse weather
17. Responsible for Quarterly Workplace Inspections and maintenance checks within various
18. areas of the building water checks, CCTV, curtain changes etc
19. Assist with testing alarms (fire/staff attack) and procedures evacuation procedure
20. To provide access for out of hours contractors following local protocols
21. Sort and handle internal/external mail and deliveries as appropriate
22. Transport medical gas cylinders throughout the building when required
23. In the event of an emergency, at any time the Facilities Support Officers will assist in raising the alarm, reporting the incident internally and externally, assisting with the co-ordination of the response and logging all details in accordance with Board Policies
24. Responsible for taking necessary action in accordance with procedural guidelines for breaches of security, Health & Safety incidents, near misses and documenting as appropriate
25. Carry out spot checks of toilets (staff & public), clean spills as per protocols and restock where necessary
26. Act on & respond to staff alarms in line with protocols and procedures
27. Provide cross cover, if required, in line with duties above within the West Dunbartonshire area for all sites

Knowledge, training, qualifications and/or experience required to do the job:

29. The post holder should possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
30. The post holder requires :-
31. A knowledge and understanding of the health care environment in which they are operating
32. Awareness of security procedures and systems.
33. Induction training and continuing professional development will be encouraged and supported
34. appropriate to the post.
35. Driver own vehicle
36. Flexible
37. Ability to work as part of a team
38. Work shift pattern (early start or late finish as per rota)
39. Ability to follow protocols for work areas and contribute to review of these protocols
40. Competent in carrying out minor works safely
41. Good written/verbal communication skills
42. Ability to prioritise workload and exercise initiative
43. Caretaking / security / portering / maintenance experience
44. Keyboard skills
45. I.T, skills
46. New employees will undertake an induction/training programme; this will be a minimum of 2 weeks
