Offer description

Are you passionate about improving services for children, young people, and families?

Do you have personal experience with emotional wellbeing or substance use services?

Compass is looking for Volunteer Peer Advisors to help shape and influence our services, ensuring they best meet the needs of those who use them.

As a Volunteer Peer Advisor, you will support Compass in evaluating and developing services by sharing your insights, experiences, and ideas. This is an opportunity to influence meaningful change while gaining valuable skills and experience.

Activities may include:

* Sharing experiences – discuss accessing emotional wellbeing and substance use services for young people
* Providing insight at events – attend local and virtual events to help improve services
* Recruiting staff – participate in selecting practitioners and managers
* Developing resources – collaborate on service materials and programs
* Promoting participation – engage in outreach to involve more young people and families
* Influencing decision-making – work with the Board to develop plans with input from young people and families

About You

We seek a motivated, flexible individual with understanding of emotional wellbeing and substance use impact.

You should be welcoming, approachable, reliable, punctual, and trustworthy.

Strong communication skills are essential, with the ability to engage with colleagues, young people, and families while maintaining confidentiality.

Applications from Young Peer Advisors with lived experience, and Family Peer Advisors (parents/carers supporting a young person), are encouraged.

We offer flexible volunteering options, including in-person participation with a local team.

We value individuals who align with our core values of integrity, respect, solution focus, consistency, reliability, collaboration, and a commitment to positive impact.

About Us

Compass is a national charity dedicated to safeguarding children, young people, and vulnerable adults. With over 30 years of experience, we provide services across the UK in substance misuse treatment, early intervention, health programs, and prevention initiatives.

All posts require appropriate DBS checks.

We welcome applications from all community members, embracing diversity and inclusion, and encourage those with life experiences that enrich skills and empathy to apply.

We are happy to discuss any reasonable adjustments needed during recruitment or in the role.

Help us make a positive difference in the lives of children and young people!
