We are seeking a compassionate, patient, and proactive Teaching Assistant to join our vibrant secondary school community in Newport. This rewarding role involves working within a mainstream classroom setting, providing individual and small group support to students with additional learning needs including:
Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)
Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)
Global Developmental Delay
Prader-Willi Syndrome

What You'll Be Doing
Assisting the class teacher in delivering a supportive and inclusive learning environment
Providing tailored support to students with additional needs
Helping to implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and behaviour support strategies
Encouraging independence, engagement, and confidence in the classroom
Building positive relationships with pupils, staff, and families
✅ What We're Looking For
Experience working with children or young people with additional needs (essential)
Understanding of conditions such as autism, ADHD, and Prader-Willi Syndrome (desirable)
A calm, nurturing approach with excellent communication skills
Flexibility, teamwork, and a genuine passion for inclusive education
Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (or willingness to work towards)
✅ Job requirements:
Evidence of right to work in the UK
Must possess an Enhanced Child only DBS Certificate
Registered with the EWC (Education Workforce Council)
At least two professional references covering 24 months

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
