Why This Role Is Ideal for Graduates

This role is particularly suited to graduates in Psychology, Criminology, Education, Sociology, Social Work, Health & Social Care, Youth Studies, or related fields. It allows you to:

1. Gain direct, practical experience working with children with additional needs.

2. Build strong knowledge of SEND, behaviour, communication, and emotional regulation.

3. Develop skills valued in teaching, educational psychology, social work, mental health and therapeutic professions.

4. Work alongside teachers, therapists and multi-disciplinary professionals, giving you insight into different career pathways.

5. Understand real-world behaviour, safeguarding and child development beyond the theory learned at university.

6. Strengthen your CV and professional confidence before progressing to further training, postgraduate study or full-time roles.

This is an excellent stepping stone for anyone considering a future in education, mental health, therapy, social care, or youth support.

What You Will Be Doing

7. Supporting pupils on a 1:1 and small-group basis throughout the school day

8. Promoting communication, independence and life skills through structured activities

9. Assisting with personal care, feeding or mobility needs where required (full training provided)

15. Patience, resilience and a calm approach when faced with challenges

16. Strong communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team

17. A willingness to learn and develop professionally
