Swindon is the hub of football for all of Wiltshire, being the only professional team in the entire county.
Founded in 1879, we entered the footballing world as Swindon AFC, later becoming Spartans, and finally Swindon Town FC in 1883. The club turned professional in 1894 as a founder of the Southern League and competed in the Western League.
Recent history highlights include winning the EFL Trophy with Don Rogers, competing in European competitions in the 1970s, and gaining promotion to the Premier League in the early 1990s.
