Job Description:

We invite you to join the Hexcel team at various manufacturing sites, sales offices and R&T centers around the globe.Become a part of the “strength within.”

Hexcel is currently seeking four (4) Student Workers for our Operations, Procurement, Quality and R&T teams to start a year-long industrial placement position in 2025 located in Duxford, UK.

Depending on the functional project, the selected individuals may be responsible for, but not limited, to the following obligations:

R&T Function

* Carry out practical laboratory work in our mechanical test lab and research on composite product development and testing
* Report and interpretation of results and project progress; give short presentations related to findings
* Prepare and test of samples for their Chemical, Physical and Mechanical Properties

Operations Function

* Train operators and supervisors on using Andon system (production issues, use Lean Manufacturing techniques)
* Create high-level management views of the Andon system
* Interface with Andon system supplier
* Work with the manufacturing manager to implement Andon systems in work centres
* Process improvement projects

Quality Function

* Support the build of a new document management system across Hexcel
* Investigate and implement a system for managing ‘best practice’ / ‘lessons learned’
* Support the update various global procedures
* Clean and verify data, build code to automate/digitize processes and systems
* Data analyse using descriptive statistics various multi-site key quality characteristics
* Support the drive to digital transfer of data removing the need for paper

Procurement/Sourcing Function

* Monthly generation of Enterprise KPI’s and data analysis
* Data analysis on budgets and spend information
* Support category strategy development
* Consolidate MRO supplier projects (Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul)
* Process improvement projects for targeted savings in spend
* Support global Supplier Sustainability initiative flow down.

Qualifications:

* Working towards a qualification in Chemistry, Polymer Chemistry, Materials Science or Mechanical Engineering or Business Administration, Data Analytics/Science, or recent graduate in a vocational school
* Strong English verbal and written communication skills
