Overview of the Procurement Manager position
We are looking for a Procurement Manager based at our Pembridge site in Herefordshire. This is a full time permanent position working Monday – Friday.
You will be overseeing the sourcing, negotiation, and purchasing of materials and services essential for our production operations. You will be responsible for the delivery of procurement strategies, managing vendor relationships, ensuring cost-effective and timely supply chain operations. Additionally you will be responsible for the day-to-day management of the Materials Controller team.
Main Duties of our Procurement Manager
Procurement Strategy: Develop, implement, and manage procurement strategies, aligned with wider organisational goals.
Supplier Management: Source, evaluate, and manage suppliers to ensure high-quality materials and service are received.
Negotiation: Work on contract negotiations to secure beneficial terms and reduce costs.
Inventory Control: Collaborate with teams internally to ensure appropriate stock levels and avoid overstocking or shortages.
Compliance: Ensure processes adhere to internal policies and regulatory requirements.
Cost Optimisation: Analyse data to identify cost-saving opportunities and improve efficiencies.
Risk Management: Monitor market trends, identify potential supply risks, and develop contingency plans.
Team Leadership: Manage and develop procurement staff, working to create a high-performing and collaborative team environment.
Vendor Performance: Monitor and evaluate supplier performance based on key metrics.
Technology & Reporting : Utilise procurement software and tools for reporting, budgeting, and forecasting.
What we are looking for in our Procurement Manager:
CIPS Qualification / Membership.
Proven experience in a Procurement or Supply Chain role.
Knowledge of strategic sourcing, contract negotiation, supplier management etc.
Excellent analytical, negotiation and communication skills.
Proven people management skills with the ability to motivate and build a strong team.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Strong organisational and relationship management skills.
Experience of working with various IT programs i.e. MS Word, Excel.
