Please note that, effective from 1 April 2023, candidates applying for roles requiring PVG membership will need to cover the cost of the membership. This applies only to roles with a full-time equivalent salary of £30,000 and above, including teaching roles and jobs at Grade 11 and above (currently £30,727 per annum / £15.97 per hour).
The Council will initially pay for the PVG membership cost—£18 for existing PVG scheme members or £59 for non-members—and this amount will be deducted from the employee’s first full month’s salary.
Job Purpose/About the Role
To assist the Cook in Charge in preparing and serving meals in a safe, hygienic, efficient manner, providing high standards of customer service.
Minimum Requirements
* An Elementary Food Hygiene Certificate or willingness to undertake and pass this course within 6 months.
* FSA – Food Standards Agency's online food allergy training, to be completed within 1 month.
* Full PVG certificate.
Skills and Demonstration
* Awareness of risks within a kitchen environment.
* Ability to count cash and cheques accurately.
* Basic written and numeracy skills.
* Good understanding of the English language.
* High standard of hygiene awareness.
