This Band 7 post offers an exciting opportunity for a suitably qualified and experienced Nurse to work as an Educator in Palliative and End of Life Care across CDDFT. The post requires coverage Monday‑Friday 09:00‑17:00.
The successful candidate will be educated to degree level in a relevant subject, have excellent communication skills and extensive working knowledge of Palliative care and a passion for developing practice in End of life care. Demonstrable specialist experience, underpinned through theory to lead and facilitate the delivery of high quality training and education.
You must also be able to work on your own initiative, have strong organisational skills and be able to work to deadlines. Work confidently alone and collaboratively as part of a team, building effective relationships with peers, colleagues and stakeholders.
Main duties of the job
The candidate will need to demonstrate a passion for developing people to meet the service needs; to confidently deliver an established educational programme, lead/support educational discussion, planning across the training calendar, prepare the sessions and liaise with the Training and Development department. Be able to support learners in their current practice and be flexible to enact new ways of working/learning and embedding practice.
Support the Palliative Care Consultants across CDDFT, the wider workforce and stakeholders.
Lead by action and inspire others, acting as a role model.
Person Specification
Qualifications
* Highly developed knowledge of Palliative Care Pain and Symptom control management
* First level degree in related subject
* Evidence of teaching qualification (Cert Ed or equivalent)
* Evidence of Masters level learning or willing to work towards
* Understanding of audit methodologies
* Advanced communication skills / willing to undertake
* Good understanding of organisational priorities of relevant organisations
* Awareness of current political and organisational climate
Statutory Registration
* Registered Nurse (adult or Child) on part 1 of the NMC register
* Valid UK NMC PIN
Experience
* Relevant post registration in depth experience, in cancer, palliative care or relevant speciality
* Experience of multi professional working
* Leadership and management experience
* Experience of teaching, delivering education using a variety of teaching strategies.
* Understanding of Macmillan Cancer Support and its role across the UK.
* Experience of audit, research, practice development and service development at a senior level.

* Excellent and confident teaching / presentation skills
* Highly developed specialist knowledge underpinned by theory and experience in palliative and end of life care
