Description The Role: As a Trading Standards Officer, you will play a crucial role in safeguarding public interests by enforcing trading standards legislation. Based within the Quality Standards and Animal Health team, you will have a focus on food standards, weights and measure, product safety, animal health and/or feeding stuffs. You will be responsible for investigating complaints, conducting inspections, and taking action against any breaches of regulations. Your work will help to maintain a safe and fair marketplace for all. Key Responsibilities Investigate complaints related to consumer protection and fair trading. Conduct inspections of businesses to ensure compliance with trading standards laws. Provide advice and support to businesses on regulatory requirements. Take enforcement action, including issuing notices and prosecuting offenders if necessary. Collaborate with other agencies and stakeholders to address complex issues. Keep up to date with changes in legislation and best practices. This is a public/customer-facing role, where the statutory English language requirement for public sector workers applies. This position will be subject to a basic criminal record disclosure check.
