Band 6 Dietician: Respiratory, Surgery, Critical Care

Are you an experienced Band 6 dietitian looking to expand your expertise in respiratory, surgery and critical care? Are you passionate about making a positive impact on people's lives? Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will be expected to manage their own clinical caseload across the areas covered by the team: surgical, respiratory, acute medical, cardiology and critical care wards. They will also need to supervise more junior staff and dietetic students as required.

The successful candidate will thrive when working closely as part of a multi-disciplinary team and will be keen to develop their skills in service development and audit as well as their clinical knowledge. Education

* Recognised Dietetics Degree qualification or equivalent
* Health Professions Council - Licence to Practice
* Additional qualification or BDA accredited courses or equivalent in-house training e.g. PENG clinical update,
* Commitment to advanced clinical and professional development
* Membership of special interest group


Experience

* Broad range of clinical experience, across a variety of clinical areas to include nutrition support in both in and out-patients
* Experience of working within an MDT
* Presentations to groups/teaching other Healthcare Professionals
* Student training/ supervisory skills
* Active participation in an audit or project
* Experience and competencies in complex ITU patient management and Parenteral nutrition
* Motivational Interviewing/ Behaviour Change training (CBT or facilitation skills)
* Proficient use of PC & working knowledge of Microsoft Office and nutritional analysis software
* Able to work autonomously and use initiative
* Evidence of specialist clinical skills
* Good time management and organisational skills
* Effective clinical reasoning skills & ability to reflect on own practice
* Appreciation of need for personal accountability for governance issues (to include confidentiality, Health & safety and risk management) and how these affect self and others
* Effective verbal communication skills with a range of patients and healthcare professionals
* Ability to treat others with compassion, dignity and respect, taking into account diversity considerations
* Able to manage clinical caseload and prioritise effectively
* Ability to work effectively within different teams both multi and uni-disciplinary, with a willingness to be personally accountable for actions
* Ability to manage own time & meet deadlines
* Ability to critically evaluate current research & apply to own practice
* Ability to recognise and challenge unacceptable behaviour. To act on this appropriately using effective interpersonal skills, including assertiveness and negotiation

£44,485 to £52,521 a yearper annum inclusive of HCAS
