Offer description

TrimTabs Ltd is a pioneering technology company in Bridgend, South Wales, focused on the sustainable, large-scale production of ultralong carbon nanotubes (CNTs) and hydrogen. Our patented process transforms plastics and solvents—including hard-to-recycle waste—into high-performance CNTs, driving innovation in energy efficiency, advanced materials, and the circular economy. We are rapidly scaling our operations and developing next-generation conductive materials to outperform traditional metals and support a decarbonised infrastructure. At TrimTabs, we value practical problem-solving, bold innovation, and a multidisciplinary team spirit—join us to help advance breakthrough materials manufacturing for a more sustainable future.

Nanomaterials Scientist Role Summary:

We seek a materials scientist to support material research activities using a variety of instrumentation and characterisation techniques, developing test protocols and analysing results. This person will have particular experience with conductivity and resistivity measurements, including 4-point and 2-point probes. Experience with SEM, TGA and Raman spectroscopy desirable, but not required.

Key Responsibilities:

* Sample analysis: Conduct regular materials analysis (quantitative and qualitative), including conductivity measurements, and provide occasional support with advanced microscopy characterisation techniques.
* Material preparation: Preparation of catalyst compounds, reagents, including gaseous and liquid samples.
* Method development: Contribute towards standard protocols for chemical analysis and develop repeatable quality control techniques.
* Collaboration: Collaborating with team members across operations, science and engineering to support experiments required to mature production techniques.
* Analytical Strategy & External Implementation: Identify the most effective analytical technique and procedure to detect and quantify samples; collaborate with research institutes and analytical facilities to coordinate and accelerate analysis.
* Laboratory Management: Maintaining general chemical safety and supporting the maintenance of instrumentation.

Ideal Candidate:

The ideal candidate will likely have a scientific post-graduate qualification or have laboratory technician experience in a similar technology development environment. This person should be a quick learner who can rapidly grasp our development roadmap. The ideal candidate is a good communicator and collaborator across technical specialities. They will be able to describe technical and scientific issues to non-technical colleagues.

What We Offer:

* Competitive compensation package based on skills and experience, with indicative salary for 2‑year experienced candidate £30,000
* Candidate specific training and career development in chosen specialism
* The opportunity to make a tangible impact in a fast‑growth, high‑innovation company.
* Close collaboration with an expert founding team in a dynamic, supportive environment.
* Statutory pension scheme.
* 25 days of holiday + bank holidays.

If you’re ready to take on a challenging role that will push your limits and accelerate your professional growth, we want to hear from you. We encourage interested candidates to apply as soon as possible, as applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis. The vacancy will be closed once we have identified a sufficient number of suitable candidates.
