About the role

The postholder will be part of a team, currently comprising seven research nurses, and work closely with clinicians, non-clinical research associates and other members of the clinical research team. The main purpose of the role will be responsibility for participant recruitment and completing study procedures such as completion of questionnaires, blood and other sample collection and clinical procedures as specified in the study protocol. Research nurses in the team may be allocated to any of the portfolio of 15-20 current studies.

The postholder will be expected to:

1. Assist with the preparation and submission of protocols, for regulatory and ethical approval
2. Attend investigator meetings
3. Explain the study to clinical research and other clinic staff
4. Ensure relevant study documents are easily accessible to all staff
5. Screen for potentially eligible patients and keep up to date screening logs
6. Inform patients about current and future studies
7. Carry out study procedures, including collection and processing of biological samples according to protocol, as specified in the study delegation log
8. Undertake nurse-led care duties according to the requirements of studies
9. Liaise with delivery services for the transport of specimens, and ensure samples are packaged so that they meet regulations for their safe transport
10. Monitor progress of recruitment to studies

The role is full time ( hours per week) and is available immediately for 12 months in the first instance.

An acceptable enhanced DBS check is required to carry out this role.

Salary range: £43, - £52, per annum (including London Allowance), depending on experience.

About you

The post holder must have a current professional registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) and evidence of commitment to continuous professional development. They must have completed Good Clinical Practice training, or commit to undertake this on appointment (training will be provided)

Knowledge of infectious disease, blood-borne virus infection and/or sexual health and understanding of data protection and confidentiality issues are essential.

The ideal candidate will have experience of working in sexual health, infectious disease, HIV and/or related specialties. Previous experience of clinical research would be an advantage but is not essential.
