The Roman Baths is looking for a skilled and enthusiastic Conservation Manager to help care for and maintain the site.
About the Role
The Roman Baths Conservation Manager will work alongside the Collections team, under the supervision of the Roman Baths Collections Manager.
The postholder will be responsible for the care and conservation of the Roman Baths and Temple complex, managing the Conservation Action Plan to ensure the ongoing preservation of the Scheduled Monument.
About You
You will be experienced in buildings conservation and with archaeological sites, capable of managing the Conservation Plan and implementing the required works. This will include managing and maintaining the relationship with Historic England and required consents for the site, commissioning conservation works in line with requirements and recommendations, and performing remedial conservation and cleaning as necessary.
You will understand the importance of environmental monitoring and controls in museums and museums and heritage sites and be confident communicating the significance of conservation needs to a wide range of internal and external stakeholders.
You will have a strong interest in the preservation of archaeological and built heritage, and will be joining a small, dedicated team of heritage professionals. You will enjoy working in a busy environment, and be able to work both as part of the team and independently, managing your own workload.
Your main place of work will be The Roman Baths, Bath, with a requirement to work outside of standard working hours when performing conservation works and managing contractors. Regular office attendance is required, although some hybrid working is possible in agreement with the line manager.
